The head of the Odessa RSA Maxim Stepanov initiated the liquidation of the State Ecological Inspection for the Black Sea North-West Region, accusing it of involvement in corruption schemes, which leads to the delay of foreign courts and the loss of large sums of money by world companies. The corresponding letter with the complaint was sent by the politician to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groysman.
“The ecoinspection reports about $300,000 earned in the budget since the beginning of the year. This is against the millions of dollars that world companies lose during the forced downtime in ports. Ship owners even include in the charter a special “Ukrainian Clause”, in which the charterers are warned that in order to prevent the delay of the vessel in the Ukrainian port it is necessary to include in the disbursement account an additional 3 to 5 thousand dollars in connection with the implementation of “environmental control”, – said Stepanov.
Interestingly, in response to this, representatives of the State Ecological Inspection threaten to involve the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, The National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) in the investigation of the activities of the RSA chairman.
