In 2017, six Ukrainian seaports showed steady growth in cargo turnover, and the number of seaports with a cargo turnover of more than 1 million tons has increased to 10.
In 2017, the Reni Sea Port processed 1.125 million tons of cargo, which is 15,7% more than the previous year (972,370 tons). Thanks to this, Reni port was the 10th largest Ukrainian port in the world, whose annual turnover exceeded 1 million tons. The highest growth rate was shown by the smallest cargo shipping port of Ukraine – Ust-Dunajsk. Over the year, the port increased reloading by 113.4% – from 25,400 tons to 54,200 tons. Odessa port in 2017 processed 24.120 million tons of cargo. Although this was a slight decrease (-4.5%) compared to 2016, the port remains in the top three largest ports of the country. The key to the port of Odessa in 2017 was the handling of containers, the volume of which grew by 8.1% and amounted to 519,000 TEU. In 2016 Yuzhny sea port processed 39.298 million tons, compared to already 41.889 million tons in 2017, up 6.6%. The highest growth rate is the turnover of packaged goods; up to 2,108 million tons, 88,1% more than in 2016. Also, the cargo turnover of coal almost doubled, reaching 7.15 million tons.
