Ukraine has successfully passed the audit of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which was held from 11 to 18 June. According to the press service of the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine, the purpose of the audit was to verify compliance of Ukraine as a port state, the flag state and the coastal state with international obligations in the field of maritime safety. IMO auditors congratulated Ukraine on the successful completion of the audit, thanking the team of the Ministry of infrastructure for coordinated teamwork.
“We were able to organize and proved that Ukraine is a maritime state! Moreover, the result of the audit pleased not only us, but also international auditors. With an average number of comments to each country on the results of the audit – more than 22, in Ukraine – less than 10, and a warning at all one”, — the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan said.
MO (headquarters – London) is an intergovernmental organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations, whose main task is to ensure the safety of international merchant shipping and to prevent pollution of the marine environment. The organization was founded on March 6, 1948. Now the members of the organization are 174 states. Ukraine has been a member of IMO since 1994.
