Mainly this is due to measures imposed by Russia against Ukraine with the aim of restricting trade. The EU’s share grew by 37.1% of total exports of Ukraine in 2016, the Exports from Ukraine to Russia, accounting for only 9.9% of the total volume.
Taking into consideration also the imports, the overall level of trade between Ukraine and the European Union increased by 8.1%. “In just one year of the free trade zone many of import tariffs for Ukrainian goods has been reduced (in many cases even brought to zero); at the same time, the export of agricultural goods from Ukraine is bestanime quotas, which means the possibility of duty free export of some agricultural products up to a certain limit. After overcoming this limit you have to pay import duties for certain agricultural products.
The EU does not apply any quantitative restrictions on exports from Ukraine,” — noted in the message. At the same time, increased trade is still moderate.
The provisions of the Treaty on free trade zone will be fully implemented within seven years, the period provided for in the agreement.
